We left the RV park and parked our motorhome in a lot beside
the visitor center, where a sign said public parking. Then we took the Jeep and
crossed the border in to Alaska, to the town of Hyder. It’s a small town, old,
with a few businesses.

pictures to enlarge them.
We went to Fish Creek Wildlife Observation Site, which in
season is a $5 charge; it was free now. This is a popular spot during salmon
season, as the bears come to the river for feeding.
From there we followed a road and kept
driving until we got to an area that had a landslide or avalanche take out the
road.
Back to British Columbia.
We headed back to Mezidian Junction and took highway 37 to
the Yukon Territory, and then turned on to highway 1 where we stopped at a
pullout for the evening. A camper from Iowa joined us for the evening.
Today we saw 2 moose, 1 bear and swans.
Bad roads
Lots of burned area, about 20 miles worth.
