The Hummingbirds Found Us!

We've been feeding hummingbirds in the desert every time we come out here. It doesn't take them long to find us either.  In LaPosa it took almost a week.  Now at Roadrunner, we were barely here an hour and we had our first bird.

As always, you can click on the pictures to make them larger.

Can you see it in the tree?

BLM Roadrunner, Quartzsite, AZ

Our 14 days are up today at LaPosa South ($40 for 14 days). We dumped our tanks, filled water, and moved south a couple of miles to the free BLM site Roadrunner. This area isn’t near as large as the 4 pay areas. We were here a couple of years ago and like the quietness of it. We have Verizon 4G 2 bar cell service today.

It’s windy today; will be for the next three days. Winds 20-30 mph with occasional gusts up to 50 mph Sunday and Monday. So solar panels will be down and slides will probably be in so the slide toppers don’t get ripped if its that bad. A neighbor out here is flying a kite - perfect for that!  The weather has been in the 70’s most of the week with a cool breeze. The evenings are cool, even when we’ve sitting around a campfire with our group.  Monday the cold front is coming in and we’re getting the wind and cool temps with highs in the upper 50’s, lows lower 30’s.  Still better than snow and temps of 0 degrees!

For some reason Open Live Writer wouldn't work for me tonight, so we'll see if I can get this to load correctly.  You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge them.

Bloggerfest 2016

For bloggers, for followers of bloggers, this was the chance to meet the faces that go along with the blog names. Around 50 people attended. Everyone brought snacks and we visited for a couple of hours. Thank you to Our Awesome Travels and Palomine, I believe, who took the time to set this up!

BLM LaPosa South, Quartzsite, AZ

We’ve been at LaPosa South for a couple of days now, enough to know this is one busy place. We are camped with the IRV2 forum group of Monaco, Beaver and Holiday Rambler coaches, and with a few other brands. I think the most they’ve had at one time this year is 39 coaches; people are coming and going. The guys have been busy helping each other out with projects and fixing things.

We went to Quartzsite today to go to the farmers market and then the big tent. Parking wasn’t too bad around 9:00, but by the time we left around noon the traffic was crazy. We got some LED bulbs to change out our ceiling lights, and Curt found the glue he wanted. There’s anything you could want for an RV and, other than that, there’s just a lot of “stuff”. We looked at some of the new and used RVs for sale, and got a lot of walking done. Went to Dollar General to get some bread and milk after that and then came home.

BLM Tom Well’s Road, Ehrenberg, AZ

We found BLM boondocking at Tom Well’s Road through freecampsites.net. It’s about 6 miles east of Ehrenberg and 12 miles west of Quartzsite. There’s a lot of room here. The rocks are larger in some areas, so you have to watch where to drive. There is a deep dip in the road about a half mile in, and we didin’t cross that. There’s roads east and west, a few rock fire rings. There’s road noise since we’re by Highway 10, and by the exit so you hear truck Jake brakes occasionally. I think if you would go further south, or east, the road noise would probably be less. Lots of places to walk and the weather has been great. Verizon service 4G 2-3 bars.  We got 5 English-speaking TV channels, some Spanish.
