This is our third year of camp hosting at Lewis & Clark State Park. Our duties are pretty much the same as previous years. We pick up a roster from the office in the morning and make rounds, making sure the campers are in the right spot and have tags on their posts. When they leave, we clean their site and fire pit. We check the comfort station and vault toilets for paper or cleaning; we don’t have to clean them. We pick up litter around the park and beach, and water flowers. Let campers know if there’s a fire burn ban on and then they can’t have a campfire or charcoal grills. This year we were requested to measure the sites and distances from the site to the beach, comfort station or vault toilet, and to the dump station. They’re updating the reservation web site and information like this will be on there. And, of course, help campers with any concerns or complaints.

This is a volunteer position with a full hookup campsite. There is wifi but it isn’t really good this year, we get kicked off a lot. Cell service depends where you are in the park. At our site we get 1-2 bar Verizon. Sometimes we can make calls and sometimes we lose the calls.
There was road construction again between Williston and the park. At least it was all paved this year.
And, of course, all of the oil wells in the area. It gets hazy from the wildfires in Canada and western states too.
