Bastendorff Beach Jetty - Dispersed Camping at Coos Bay, Oregon
We found out about Bastendorff Beach from freecampsites.net. It’s basically a parking lot by the water, but it’s free parking for 14 days through the BLM. It is right beside the County Park. There is a restroom and trash containers. The lot is full of potholes, which were full of water from the recent rain. There were five other campers while we were there; some of them looked like they had been there for a while. I don’t know if the 14 days is enforced or not. There was a dune buggy driving on the sand area beside the lot, and a LOT of people driving in and stopping to smoke or walk their dogs. One guy brought a drone and we watched that fly around. There was a pile of wood pallets and some junk; one of the campers had a bonfire that night burning some of the pallets. It was a very busy lot. We stayed one night. We had good Verizon cell service. We didn't check for TV stations but I did see a camper with their TV antenna up.
Click here for more pictures of the area and drive.
