Avenue of the Giants - More Redwoods

Avenue of the Giants is a 31-mile portion of old Highway 101, which parallels Freeway 101. There are 51,222 acres of redwood groves. There are many attractions to stop at on the way through, from immortal trees to drive-through trees to restaurants and gift shops. Some of the attractions are only open in the summer. Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center is about half way through and is an interesting place to stop. There is a lot of history information and also some films to see regarding the redwoods, the area and the 1964 flood that destroyed so much of the area.
