Bill Frome County Park, Henry’s Lake, ID - free

We stopped at an Island Park boondocking site off highway 20 to check it out. There’s a parking lot right off the highway that had one camper in it. We unhooked the jeep and took it to some of the forest service roads, but they’re pretty wet yet, some had snow, and some were really rutted.

So we drove around to Henry’s Lake with the jeep and checked out the county park. It has cell service and a great view, and there was nobody else there. We went back the highway route and hooked up to the coach and came to the park on the highway. http://followusinourtravels.blogspot.com/

Bill Frome County Park is on Henry’s Lake near Island Park in Idaho, close to West Yellowstone. We found the site through freecampsites.net. There are no hookups. Some sites have picnic tables and fire rings. There are restrooms. There is a boat launch and docks (which weren’t in the water yet). The first night there were three vehicles along with us overnight. I would imagine that once fishing season opens, the place is busy. A Sheriff’s vehicle drove through daily and also a Fish & Game pickup with boat came in twice daily and launched their boat. We had four TV channels (one Spanish), and Verizon 3G 3-4 bar cell service.
