08/12/2019 - Riley Creek Campground, Denali National Park

We stayed at Riley Creek Campground in Denali National Park; one of six campgrounds in the park. Three of the campgrounds are for tents only, three are for RVs and tents. Riley Creek is at the front of the Park and is the only campground open year-round. There are 127 sites, 20 of which are tent only. Max RV length is 40 ft, but not every site is that large. We had no problem fitting in our site, and had room for the Jeep beside us. When you reserve your site, you are not given a specific site number, so we wanted to be there before checkout to make sure we would get a site to fit us, and have our kids nearby. There are no hookups at any of the campgrounds here, but there is an RV dump/fill by the Mercantile, which is beside the campground and where you have to check in. The camp sites are $30 each for RVs, $15 with a senior pass.

08/11/2019 Denali National Park bus tour

We got to Denali National Park before campground check in time and were able to find two spots beside each other for our campers. We had reservations for the bus tour, so we checked in for that.

The tour that we took went as far as the Eielson Visitor Center. It's a long ride there and back. If a person goes earlier in the morning, you'd have time to do some hiking or just spending time at the visitor center. As it was, we took a few stops along the way for potty breaks for 15 minutes or so. There were only a couple more buses coming that direction, so we just went back right away.  It's like a school bus, and most of the road is not paved.

08/10/19 On our way to Denali National Park

After everyone arrived from the airport, a rental RV picked up and spending a night at Cabela's, we took off toward Denali National Park. We stopped at Talkeetna and walked around the town and stopped at the Talkeetna Lodge for a hike.

Denali State Park has some viewpoints of Denali to stop at. We were going to do a hike, but was stopped by the Closed sign stating a bear was seen in the area.

We stopped near Cantwell by the river bridge for the night. I'm surprised there was room there. The first time we went to Denali, it was full. We were able to park both RVs near the water.
