August in North Dakota

08/09/14: We're "back home" in North Dakota.

Lots of construction, and lots of water here too

World's largest buffalo on a hill at Jamestown, ND, with a live herd nearby.

This was in the Bismarck Sam's Club parking lot. Above motorhome, jacks down, slides out, and grilling supper. Below, homemade camper, he was working on it that night.

Sweet Briar Recreation Area, north of I-94. One of our favorite stopping spots because of being by the water, and luckily very few people.

There were geese all over - you had to watch where you were walking

I think he bottomed out...

Sunflower field, not yet ready for harvest
World's largest holstein cow, Salem Sue, New Salem, ND

Lots of motorcycles, most likely on their way home from the Sturgis, SD motorcycle rally.

The sculpture "Geese in Flight" is currently listed in the Guinness World Book of Records as the Largest Scrap Metal Sculpture in the entire world. This is off I-94, exit 72. If you take the highway through the town of Gladstone and to Regent, you are on the "Enchanted Highway" which has a lot of metal sculptures along the way.

Lots of "world's largest" on this highway!

A lake, family, fishing and relaxing

07/24/14 – 08/03/14: On to a Minnesota lake, family, fishing and relaxing.

Our niece and her family just happened to be on the pontoon near the highway as we drove to their cabin.
deer in the field next door every morning
some kind of crane in the fields

We went through lots of old slides that Curt's folks had taken, Sorted them out, kept some, threw some. This slide is of my parents many years ago, I think for one of my brother's weddings, 1974.

Our catch for a day
We fished every day; some days enough for a meal, some days nothing. It was a very relaxing week.

The lake is high this year. They usually have a nice sandy beach - no beach this year.

Find the toads?

Beautiful sunsets

July in Minnesota

6/22/14 – 7/23/14: Family, Alaina’s 4th birthday, spending lots of time with my girls!

Our welcome to Korene and Jason's. We were in bed already, heard a noise like something hitting the rig outside, so Curt got up and found the bottle of taco sauce and a bag of carrots on the road, and taco sauce squirted on our rig and our jeep. So, at 10:30 at night he's outside washing.

More rain

 Happy 4th birthday to Alaina!
She had a "Frozen" birthday party theme, with her mom making the cake.

Calissa and Alaina picking raspberries
We also went to a strawberry farm and picked strawberries. It was a lot of fun, and the strawberries were really good. Korene also has rhubarb, which she picked, and then Jason made freezer jam - raspberry, strawberry and strawberry rhubarb. Yum.
Calissa participating in her first 4-H Fashion Review, and she did great

 Ancient lava flows/potholes

The State Park had a rock climbing course which both Jason and Calissa took. Calissa loved it and she did all the climbs.
